Portfolio > STATIONS

This particular group of paintings numbers fourteen. The number directly correlates to the Stations of the Cross in Christianity. Although I was raised a Catholic, any other religious connotations are coincidental unless the paintings are hung together in a cross formation (a option). The singular figures / beings are enveloped in their own light that lays in stark contrast to the darkness that surrounds them. The dramas that unfold are bittersweet. They are full of both despair and hope. The fact that the various shapes were all cut from the same block of wood also has some significance. I completed one a day until the series was finished. They were drawn from my personal observations and experiences, both conscious and otherwise.
